Imagine - just one more hat.
God-nudged Creativity
We need a custom pattern.
Multiple sizes. Attachable chin straps with buttons. Built in button holes. Easily made.
After getting home from the hospital I began the work of writing a custom crochet hat pattern, testing the stitch-work with fellow crochet enthusiasts, and creating sample after sample until it was just right.
Then - I started teaching my closest circle. A knit and crochet ministry at my church, my mother-in-law, my best friends... and my children.
mountains and valleys
That is what an EEG looks like - a series of mountains and valleys. And a child in the hospital is often compared to a roller coaster ride - a series of ups and downs. And God is present for every high, and every low.
And just like that, the pattern for this hat flew out of my heart and on to my hook.
See?
It takes a village.
Mission Centric
Local Knit & Crochet Women's Ministry
Some of this crew have made hats before. Most of them had not. All of them spent a Saturday with me learning how to make this pattern, and helping me work through the kinks of adjusting it. They are absolutely incredible and this project would not be possible without the dedicated spirit and joyful hearts God gave to each of them!

Special thanks to our pastor, Cliff Marion, for whole-heartedly encouraging us to pursue this local mission. And to our husbands - who encourage the use of our time, talent, and yarn stash.

Inspired
Full Hearts & Family Focused
The 11 year old boy and 13 year old girl pictured above are just two of the people involved in this project aside from the church group - but definitely the most impacted.
As a child with seizures, Emory knows first hand how much her hat made an uncomfortable situation more comfortable. And as her brother, Everett knows first hand how it feels to not be able to stop her episodes.
Emory's best friend, B, has also taken to using her talents to make these crochet hats. She has an amazing mama helping her (and me) with the task! Special thanks to Ash, too, for being my perpetual pattern tester!
My biggest cheerleaders?
My husband (thank you, Mike, for loving and supporting me the way you do), my mom (Florinda, who is also sewing buttons on to chin straps while she encourages my service-oriented-heart), and my friend Charity (who makes me feel like I can do anything, the sky my only limit).
It is amazing what a little bit of love can do.
